NotesAlthough exact owner of bookplate is unknown, bookplate artist F. Adams did operate out of Montreal, Canada, in the late 19th century, according to H.W. Fincham's 'The Artists & Engravers of British & American Bookplates' (1897). In addition, heraldic arms are similar to that of the MacLachlan of MacLachlan family listed in Burke's Landed Gentry (1937 ed.), as well as Latin motto. On thin paper, possibly a copy.
