NotesCharles Felix Aylwin (26 May 1779 - 1 Feb 1865) was a Québec merchant. He married Mary Painter, the daughter of John Painter on December 9th, 1817. His parents were Thomas Aylwin and Lucy Susannah Cushing. There is a listing for Charles F. Aylwin in Prescott's "A List of Canadian Bookplates." It is presumably referring to the same Charles Felix Aylwin. The entry notes that he was from Québec and that the bookplate was probably made around 1830. The only difference is that the motto reads "Je n'oublierai pas" instead of "Je noublierai jamais, " which is a slight variation in translation. There are bookplates in the collection for Charles' father, Thomas Aylwin and the Aylwin Library. There is a stain in the upper right-hand corner.
