DescriptionBlue, pink, yellow, gold, and black ink on cream paper. A knight in armour sits on horseback behind a black silhouette of city ; in the background is castle suspended in the clouds. A border of flowers and vines surrounds the image. 'Rustcraft USA' is written vertically in small type along edge of building, and near the horse's tail additional text appears to read "A74." There is a scroll at the bottom with the originator's name.

NotesGertrude Elliott, most likely the owner of this bookplate, was an American children's book illustrator who worked for Little Golden Books in the 1940s ; most notably, in 1951 she co-authored 'Two Little Gardeners' with Margaret Wise Brown, the author of the classic book 'Goodnight Moon.' Rustcraft USA was a greeting card company based in Massachusetts who, in addition to cards, produced mass-market bookplates.The company was established in 1906 and merged with Norcross Greeting Cards in 1981. There is another Rustcraft plate in the Thomas Murray Collection, belonging to Charles Fyfe.
