NotesDue to the Canadian imagery in Mark Rowe's bookplates, it is likely that the bookplates originated in Canada. McGill University's Philippe Masson Ex Libris Collection contains a number of Mark Rowe bookplates, many of which are also held in the University of British Columbia's bookplate collection. The University of Toronto's Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library also has a number of books containing Mark Rowe bookplates. The date listed above is based on information in the McGill collection. It is also probable that Mark Rowe was a book collector due to the large number of different bookplates that he commissioned as well as the books that his bookplates have been found in, for example, The Fear of Books by Holbrook Jackson.
