NotesMarjory Todd was born in 1882 to Annie Easton and Sir Edward Seaborne Clouston, general manager of the Bank of Montreal and president of the Canadian Bankers Association. She died in February of 1945. John Lancelot Todd was born on September 10th 1876 in Victoria, British Columbia to Jacob Hunter Todd and Rosanna Wigley. He died as the result of a car accident on August 27th 1949 in Sainte Anne de Bellevue, Québec. Marjory and John married in 1911 in Paris and then settled at their new home, 'Montbriant, ' in Senneville, near Montréal. They had three daughters, Rosanna, Jacqueline, and Bridget. They travelled frequently and in the years 1934-1939 they lived in Paris and England, before returning to Senneville and taking up residence at the Clouston home, 'Broisbriant.' They were very interested in gardening and farming, especially during the latter part of their lives. According to the guide titled 'Dr. John Lancelot Todd' by Barbara Lawson, Pamela Miller, and Kristen Dobbin, John was a well-known researcher and medical doctor. He earned his medical degree at McGill University, where he worked as a member of the Faculty of Medicine from roughly 1907-1925. Before beginning his career at McGill, John worked as a researcher and teacher for the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), where he conducted research based in western Africa, in particular Gambia, Senegal, and the Congo Free State. During the first World War, he served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps, and after the war he worked with the Government of Canada's pension program and with the Red Cross. He received numerous awards and recognitions during his life. Marjory and John Todd's records can be found at a number of institutions, in particular, Montréal's McCord Museum and McGill University. These institutions also contain records related to Marjory's parents and sister, Osla, as well as Marjory and John's children. McGill's Philippe Masson Ex Libris Collection holds two bookplates which belonged to John Todd.
