NotesThis is almost certainly the Francois-Xavier Bossé born September 6, 1838 in Sainte-Anne de la Pocatière, Québec to Maurice Bossé and Marie-Marguerite Ouellet. He was ordained in 1863 and served as a vicar and missionary in several locations in Québec before being appointed the Apostolic Prefect of the Gulf of St. Lawrence in 1882. In 1883, he was appointed supernumerary secret chamberlain of His Holiness Leo XIII, for which he was given the honorary title Monsignor. In 1902 and 1903 he was involved in the migration of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis from their home in France to a new home in Canada. Bossé passed away in 1912, at the age of 74. A copy of this ex libris is also available in the Philippe Masson Ex Libris Collection at McGill University.
