NotesPierre Beaumont (1808-1879) was born on May 23 in Québec. He was ordained there on March 31, 1833, after which he became curate in Rimouski. He became pastor of Saint-Jean-Chrysostome in 1839 and remained there for most of his life, moving in 1870 to be pastor in Ecureuils, where he died on September 24, 1879. Beaumont was also part of a mission in 1847 to Grosse-Île, the quarantine location near Québec City. In that year approximately 5000 Irish immigrants died of typhus contracted on the long voyage from the UK, many still waiting on the ships which had carried them due to lack of space on Grosse-Île itself.
