NotesThe Commercial High School was opened in 1906 under the name 'Commercial and Technical High School' and renamed in 1922. It was built by the Protestant Board of School Commissioners as the third high school under their control 'with the view of giving pupils who have completed the Public School Course an opportunity to continue such studies as will secure them a good business preparation, or fit them to engage in any of the various occupations in which a previous training in manual work is desirable' (Prospectus 1908-9, p. 3). The school offered a variety of tracks with different educational outcomes for both boys and girls. The school closed in 1952. Large X over the entire face of the bookplate.
