[Bookplate for Canadian School of Missions] Bookplate design consists of a bible beneath a map of the world shaped as a heart. Bookplate text is contained within scroll beneath bible. Grape leaves and grapes pictured in background. Entire bookplate design encased in a frame. 42. [Bookplate for Cariboo College] Black ink on white paper. Text at top and bottom. Geometrical star shape in centre. 43. [Bookplate for Castle-Freke Library by Griffiths and Weigall] This bookplate consists of an escutcheon divided per pale, with the dexter half divided into six, each with unique charges, and the sinister half, gules (red), charged with a simple fess or (gold). The dexter half is charged with three cross crosslet fitched, two over one. The escutcheon is supported by two lions, rampand reguardant. Above the escutcheon are two crests, both straight wreaths charged with an ox's head couped and a lion rampant reguardant holding another beast's head. Above the crests is a baron coronet. Below the escutcheon is a banner, with Latin motto within. Bookplate is cut to border, which has blunted corners. 44. [Bookplate for Charles Carroll] Bookplate consists of an escutcheon, in a scalloped chippendale style, charged with two lions rampant, between which is a sword. Escutcheon is charged with a straight wreath and an eagle with wings elevated. Cherub also stands beside the escutcheon. 45. [Bookplate for Charles Collier] Bookplate design consists of an escutcheon azure (blue), with a fess argent (silver), charged with three heraldric roses, two over one. Above the escutcheon is an esquire helmet, along with mantling. Above the helmet is a straight wreath, charged with a human figure holding a heraldric flower. Below the shield is a banner containing Latin motto. 46. [Bookplate for Charles Manby by Suffield] In black ink, this bookplate consists of an escutcheon divided per pale, with a stylized bordure. The dexter quadrant, gules (red), is charged with a lion rampant and a chief, argent (silver), with three martlets. The sinister quadrant, gules, is charged with four etoiles, two over two, and contains a canton, coloured ermine (white powdered fur with black tufts), in the dexter chief of the quadrant, covering two-thirds of the etoile in that location. The canton represents the banner of the ancient Knights Banneret, which is an honourable order which has become extinct. It was on order conferred upon persons, recognized by a king or general, that had perfomed some heroic act on the battlefield. The escutcheon is crested by a straight wreath and a lion passant guardant, holding what appears to be a millrind, sable (black) in its dexter paw. The millrind is placed in the centre of a grindstone to protect the hole in the centre from the action of the axis ; it is a charge frequently used by persons connected with agriculture. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto. 47. [Bookplate for Claude Ernest Dolman] Laurel frames a compound optical microscope. Bookplate is on its original adhesive backing. 48. [Bookplate for Claude Lamont Wheeler by C. Collmen] Printed in black on white or cream paper. In the upper left corner of the bookplate appear the words 'NULLA DIES SINE / LINEA' followed by four upward pointing arrows or crosses. To the right in the upper center of the bookplate appears a framed portrait of a horned figure (the devil?). The center of the bookplate shows the caricatured figure of a man sitting at a roll top desk. His tall wooden chair leaves his feet dangling above the ground. The man holds a lit cigar in his left hand and quill pen in his right hand. The desk, the wastepaper basket to the right of it, and the floor around it are littered with sheets of paper. Several books, as well as an owl and a human skull sit on the top of the desk. To the left, an over-sized pair of scissors leans against the man's chair. To the right of the desk appears the name of the illustrator, C. Collmen(?). Below the illustration appears a white bordered box with the words 'Ex Libris,' below which appears the name of the owner. 49. [Bookplate for Claude Lamont Wheeler] Printed in black ink on greenish gray paper, the bookplate consists of a two line border surrounding the name of the owner. In the lower left corner appears the word 'No.' followed by a dotted line for the addition of a hand-written number. The number '33' has been written in ink. 50. [Bookplate for Congregational College of British North America] The bookplate has a geometric border with stylized flowers on the corners. Within the border, the text 'Congregational College' is in a Gothic typeface, and the words 'of British North America' are in a simple sans-serif. 51. [Bookplate for Congregational College of British North America] The bookplate has a geometric border with elaborate corner designs. The border is a simple 'X' interwoven pattern, and the corners have small crosses or 'X' on them. Within the border, the text 'Congregational College' is in a slightly more elaborate typeface than the remaining text, which is a simple serif font. 52. [Bookplate for Congregational College of British North America] The bookplate has a geometric border with stylized flowers on the corners. Within the border, the text 'Congregational College' is in a Gothic typeface, and the words 'of British North America' are in a simple sans-serif. 53. [Bookplate for Congregational College of British North America] The bookplate has a stylized border of geometric patterns. Within the border, the words 'Congregational College' are written in Gothic typeface, with 'of British North America' written in a plainer font. 54. [Bookplate for Congregational College of Canada] There is an elaborate border with geometric designs and stylized flowers, and within this at the top of the bookplate is the crest of the Congregational College of British North America. Under the crest, the words 'Library of the Congregational College of Canada' are written in several different fonts, with the words 'Congregational College' the largest and most prominent. Underneath this is a space for information to be entered, although it has been left blank. 55. [Bookplate for Congregational Theological Institute] The border has a border of lines with a more elaborate border 'wrapped' around it. The corners are adorned with small flowers. Within the border, the word 'Canadian' is in a bold font, and 'Congregational Theological' is in Gothic typeface. 56. [Bookplate for Convent of the Sacred Heart] Black ink on white paper. Fine black border surrounds text. 57. [Bookplate for Cosmo Nevill] This heraldic bookplate consists of an escutcheon, divided per cross. Quarters one and four are gules (red), charged with a saltier, ermine (fur, white powdered with black tufts). Quarters two and three are argent (silver), with a fretty of eight pieces, gules. Quarters two and three have a canton at dexter chief, divided per pale, or (gold) and argent, charged with a galley with three masts. Above the primary escutcheon is a grated helmet at three-quarters profile (denoting a degree of peerage under a duke). Above the helmet is a straight wreath charged with a ducal coronet around an ox head, erased and ermine. Radiating from the helmet and escutcheon is elaborate mantling. Beneath the escutcheon is a banner, with Latin motto within. 58. [Bookplate for Crease Clinic of Psychological Medicine] Black ink on white paper. British Columbia coat of arms at top. Text below. Other text in blue rubber stamp ink. 59. [Bookplate for D. Benzie by Stanley Harrod] In black ink.
