[Bookplate for George Wilbraham] In black ink. Escutcheon parted per pale, the sinister half azure, a bend, argent, engrailed, two bendlets, or, on either side. The dexter half parted per cross. The first and fourth quarters, argent, bendy of seven, argent and azure. The second and third quarters, barry of five, argent and azure, a canton, sable, with a wolf. Above the escutcheon is a straight crest wreath topped with a wolf. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto. 22. [Bookplate for John T. Jeffcock] In black ink. Escutcheon parted per cross. First and fourth quarter, sable (black). A chief, argent (silver), three ravens, trussed, sable. A chevron, or (gold). Three pickaxes, two over one. Cadency, crescent, linking the first and second quarters. Second quarter, parted per cross. First and fourth sub-quarter, argent, an eagle, displayed, sable, with a canton, vert (green), a buck, lodged. Second and third quarters sable, the lower half of the shield a barry of six pieces, argent and sable, a square castle, turreted, two in pale two in fess. Above the escutcheon is a straight crest wreath topped with a mountain and an arm embowed holding a long pointed weapon with a circular handle. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the English motto. 23. [Bookplate for Basil Thomas Woodd by Benjamin Warwick] In black ink. This bookplate consists of an escutcheon, parted per pale. The first pale is parted per quarter. Quarters one and four, gules (red), are charged with three demi-Hercules, two over one. Quarters two and three, sable (black), are charged with gryphons rampant, segreant. The second pale is parted per quarter. Quarters one and four, or (gold), charged with a lion rampant, sable, on a chief, gules, in the middle part a fillet, dovetailed, argent (silver). Quarters two and three, azure (blue), are charged with a fleur-de-lis. The escutcheon is set upon a backdrop of concentric circles. The inner circle is decorated with vine-like patterns. Within the outer circle, the originator's Latin motto "non nobis" appears. Below the concentric circles, the creator's signature and address, Benjn. Warwick 124 Regent Street appear. Above the circle is a peer helmet, surrounded by vegetative mantling, and atop the helmet is a straight wreath charged with a demi-figure of Hercules. (Bernard Burke considers the Hercules figures to be woodmen holding a club over their right shoulders or savages, depending upon the source consulted). 24. [Bookplate for Benjamin Gott] In black ink. Escutcheon inside a garter on which is the Latin motto. Inescutcheon parted per bend, argent [white], charged with two roses on either side of a lion, passant ; coticed, argent, and charged with three tufts of ermine each, sable [black].Two layer bordure, countercharged, argent and sable. Above the escutcheon is a curved crest wreath on which is a demi-gryphon, displayed. 25. [Bookplate for Castle-Freke Library by Griffiths and Weigall] This bookplate consists of an escutcheon divided per pale, with the dexter half divided into six, each with unique charges, and the sinister half, gules (red), charged with a simple fess or (gold). The dexter half is charged with three cross crosslet fitched, two over one. The escutcheon is supported by two lions, rampand reguardant. Above the escutcheon are two crests, both straight wreaths charged with an ox's head couped and a lion rampant reguardant holding another beast's head. Above the crests is a baron coronet. Below the escutcheon is a banner, with Latin motto within. Bookplate is cut to border, which has blunted corners. 26. [Bookplate for N. L. Campbell] Bookplate features a building and its entrance way. 27. [Bookplate for Barbara Joyce Chandler] In dark blue ink on light blue paper. Primary bookplate design consists of a ship crested upon waves, with three figures within. The figures are young girls, two reading books and the other holding a book. Beneath the waves is bookplate text, with small illustrations of a castle, knight and fish. 28. [Bookplate for Canadian School of Missions] Bookplate design consists of a bible beneath a map of the world shaped as a heart. Bookplate text is contained within scroll beneath bible. Grape leaves and grapes pictured in background. Entire bookplate design encased in a frame. 29. [Bookplate for Charles Collier] Bookplate design consists of an escutcheon azure (blue), with a fess argent (silver), charged with three heraldric roses, two over one. Above the escutcheon is an esquire helmet, along with mantling. Above the helmet is a straight wreath, charged with a human figure holding a heraldric flower. Below the shield is a banner containing Latin motto. 30. [Bookseller's Ticket for James Cleghorn] Textual bookseller ticket contained within double lined border. 31. [Bookplate for Karen Caussen] Bookplate design consists of a heraldry-inspired design: an escutcheon, charged with a sheep passant and three bees at chief. Above the escutcheon is a straight wreath charged with a beehive. Below escutcheon is a banner containing Latin motto. 32. [Bookplate for Mary Cleghorn] This bookplate features a squirrel and leaf design motif, and artistically relies heavily on positive and negative space. Bookplate text is aligned top mid-right, and two block floral borders are places above and below the primary image. Artists' mark, possibly reading 'R.T.P.' is at bottom right. 33. [Bookplate for Charles Carroll] Bookplate consists of an escutcheon, in a scalloped chippendale style, charged with two lions rampant, between which is a sword. Escutcheon is charged with a straight wreath and an eagle with wings elevated. Cherub also stands beside the escutcheon. 34. [Bookplate for E. May Craig] Bookplate features a tall ship sailing on rough seas. Design contained within border, with bookplate owner name at base. 35. [Bookplate for Thorleit Larson] This bookplate's design is focus on the "Ex Libris" ; the text and surrounding design is done in a style reminiscent of an illuminated manuscript.
