[Bookplate for James Hatch] In black ink, an escutcheon, gules (red), charged with two lions passant guardant, with their hind legs couped. Over the lions at the fess point is an inescutcheon parted per pale, ermine (white powdered fur with black tufts) and ermines (field sable fur, powdering argent), a chevron sable (black) and argent (silver) with four lozenges ermine and ermines, between three fleur-de-lis argent, two over one. The crest is a lion cabossed on a straight wreath. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto. 2. [Bookplate for Eliab Harvey] In black ink, an oval escutcheon, or (gold), with a dancette chief, sable (black), containing three crescents, argent (silver). The crest is a dexter hand couped at the wrist and erected, floating above is an inverted crescent, argent. The Latin motto is found encircling the escutcheon on the bordure, argent. A wreath made of two laurel branches encapsulates the escutcheon. A banner, containing the German motto, is wrapped around the base of the wreath with the Badge of a Companion of the Order of the Bath hanging between it. 3. [Bookplate for Robert Edward Lord Petre] This heraldic bookplate consists of an escutcheon, gules (red), with a simple bend, or (gold), charged with two escallop at dexter base and sinister chief. The escutcheon is charged with an inescutcheon at center, divided per cross. Quarter one is gules, with a simple bend, argent (silver), charged with six cross crosslet fitched. Quarter two is gules, charged with three lions. Quarter three is chequy, azure (blue) and argent. Quarter four is gules, charged with a lion rampant. Above the entire escutcheon is a coronet denoting the rank of baron, and supporting the escutcheon at dexter and sinister are two lions rampant reguardant. Beneath the escutcheon s a banner, with Latin motto within, and below motto the bookplate owner's name and title. Background of crest is azure. 4. [Bookplate for Philip Southcote] In black ink, this bookplate consists of an elaborately bordered escutcheon, argent (silver), charged with a chevron, argent, three ducks, two over one and dexter, and an annulet at the precise middle chief. The annulet symbolizes the fifth son. The escutcheon is crested by a dexter closed helmet. Atop the helmet is a curved wreath and another duck, dexter. From either side of the crest flows elaborate mantling. 5. [Bookplate for Lockwood] This bookplate's design features an escutcheon, argent (silver) and sable (black), charged with three martlets. Another martlet rests above the escutcheon on the stump of an oak tree, erased and the Lockwood family motto appears in a banner below. 6. [Bookplate for Peter Edward Hicks] Black ink on cream paper. Crest features a stag head. The stag has large antlers and has a leafy wreath around its chest. The stag sits on a crest-wreath. The shield has sable stripes and is charged with three white fleurs-de-lis, two over one. The shield is divided per fess. The dividing section is curved and argent with sable stripes. The motto is printed on a curling ribbon in capitalized, serif, black font. The words are separated by black dots. Below the motto, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in large, black, sentence case, cursive font. 7. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia and Alice Ravenhill] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate features a border consisting of several black lines with X designs in the corners. There is the University of British Columbia crest. The chief has a dark background and features an open book with its straps lying out. The university motto is printed in stylized black font on the book’s open pages. The bottom section of the map was alternating black and white lines. From the bottom of the shield is part of a sun with its rays extending upwards. The sun is charged with black dots. To the right of the shield is stylized gothic text in large, black font. Below it is text printed in smaller, cursive, black font.
