	Title:	Description:

1.	[Bookplate for City of Halifax and Citizens’ Free Library]	Black ink on cream paper. A coat of arms for the city of Halifax is printed in the upper-portion of the plate. Within this coat of arms stands a sailor on the left, with his hand placed on the crest containing a Belted Kingfisher on a grassy mound. Directly above the crest is a masoned Sable containing a sprig of mayflower. To the right is a fisherman holding a codfish by its head. Both figures and the crest are standing upon heraldic ribbon containing Latin phrasing within it. This portion is followed by the title of the library and three sections with horizontal dotted entries lines for entering the class, book, and accession number. In the lower right corner is a handwritten note in pencil.

2.	[Bookplate for City of Halifax and Citizens’ Free Library]	Black and blue ink on cream paper. A coat of arms for the city of Halifax is printed in the upper-portion of the plate in blue ink. Within this coat of arms stands a sailor on the left, with his hand placed on the crest containing a Belted Kingfisher on a grassy mound. Directly above the crest is a masoned Sable containing a sprig of mayflower. To the right is a fisherman holding a codfish by its head. Both figures and the crest are standing upon heraldic ribbon containing Latin phrasing within it. This portion is followed by the title of the library in Germanic lettering and the name of the town in cursive.

3.	[Bookplate for J. W. Longley by Francis Adams Sc.]	Black ink on white paper. The crest features an arm grasping a dagger. The blade of the dagger has pierced the head of a bearded man that resembles a lion head. The arm is atop a crest-wreath. The wreath sits on a flower with a round center and 5 petals. To strips extend out of the flower across the front and back of a ribbon, connecting to the top of the shield. The ribbon extends straight out with curling ends. The motto is printed on the ribbon in black, capitalized, serif font. Shield is ermine with a black bend. Bend charged with three cheetah heads. The shield features a sinister canton paly. Underneath the shield, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in large, black, sentence case, gothic font. More text is printed below the name in smaller, black, capitalized, serif font.

4.	[Bookplate for Thomas Nickleson Jeffery by C. W. Torbett]	The armorial bookplate features a coat of arms. The escutcheon (shield) appears to be the impalement, or combining, of two distinct coats of arms into one shield. The dexter (right) shield is quartered: the repeated pattern features naiant (swimming) dolphins in an azure chevron between three leopard faces ; roses in a divided field of ermine (white with black tincture) and erminois (gold with black tincture) ; and a pheon (barbed arrow head) over an embattled field of sable and azure. Sinister (left) is a lion passant (lion depicted facing and walking to the left), which appears to be the shield of Jeffrey’s family through marriage, the Uniackes. Above the shield is a crest featuring a tree and a leopard with a horizontal anchor under its paw. Below the shield is a motto.

5.	[Bookplate for George G. Campbell]	Bookplate consists of text in both hand script and letterpress.

6.	[Bookplate for Horace Bruce Smith]	A framed view of a lake with trees and bushes along the edge. At the top and sides of the frame are cattails and other types of plants ; at the bottom of the frame is a collection of books, one open to a portrait-type image.

7.	[Bookplate for Dalhousie University Library]	Black and yellow ink on white paper. Eagle displayed on a yellow (or) field on shield. Crest is a unicorn in profile. Motto appears in a scroll above the unicorn. Text appears above and below crest.

8.	[Bookplate for Dalhousie University Library]	Black ink on white paper. Shield is supported by two dragons rampant. On the shield is an eagle displayed. Above the crown the crest is a unicorn couped in profile. Motto and other text below.

9.	[Bookplate for Howard Murray]	In black ink on cream coloured paper. This bookplate depicts a sitting room with two chairs and a window looking out on trees, rolling hills and a body of water. A scroll at the base containing the originator's name is flanked by a pile of books.

10.	[Bookplate for London Public Library and Art Museum]	This bookplate’s design features a depiction of the façade of the London, Canada, Mechanics’ Institute framed by two large maple trees. A banner above, labels the print as an ex-libris and a separate compartment below the building displays several books and the originating institution’s name.

11.	[Bookplate]	Black ink on paper. This bookplate is surrounded by a simple border. It states "This Book Belongs to The Citizen's Public Library of Sydney C.B. 1898" which places the bookplate on Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada.

12.	[Bookplate for Robert E. Harris by W.A. Ives]	The bookplate features an ornate border surrounding a coat of arms, motto, and illustration of books and the lamp of knowledge. The coat of arms features three silver crescents on a sable field. The shield is topped with a helmet and eagle with wings spread. The ribbon below contains the motto. The artist’s name appears under the books.

13.	[Bookplate for Jenkins]	Black ink on cream paper. The crest features a furry lion passant reguardant standing atop a castle tower. The castle tower is above a crest-wreath. Elaborate, curling, feathery black and white mantling extends from the top of the shield and expands out along the sides. The shield is divided per pale. The left section has a white background with black dots and is charged with a black lion rampant reguardant. The right section of the shield is charged with a bird perched on a tree branch growing out of the ground. There is no background except for the branch and ground that is lighter on top and darker at the bottom. The motto is printed on a curling ribbon below the shield. There is shading on the ends of the ribbon. The motto is printed in capitalized, black, serif font. The bookplate owner’s name is printed in a more stylized, paler, capitalized, black serif font underneath the motto.
