[Bookplate for James M. Wishart by Leslie Victor Smith] Printed in black ink on white or cream paper, the bookplate consists of a two line border surrounding a circular design of vines and leaves with the words 'EX LIBRIS' appearing at the top. In the upper third of the design at center appears a University of Toronto Medical School coat of arts bearing a skull and crossbones. Below the coat of arm to the left appears an open book and to the right appears a three-stringed harp. The initials of the designer, Leslie Victor Smith, and the date "1940" appear at the bottom of the design. Below the design appears the name of the owner. 2. [Bookplate for Dr. Bruggaier and Michael B. Kunze] In black ink, the greater part of the area of the image is taken up by a large capital E, which forms the 'e' in 'ex libris'. Within the upper and lower horizontals of the E is an image of a cross on a triangular shape, which symbolizes a steeple. Surrounding the upper part of the cross are lines which indicate light radiating from the cross. 3. [Bookplate for Charles S. Dixwell by G. M. McCall] This heraldic bookplate consists of a tilted escutcheon, argent (silver) divided per chevron, gules (red). Within the escutcheon are charges, two over one, of fleur-de-lis. A steel helmet, closed, situated en profile dexter(denoting an esquire rank), sits upon the escutcheon, with a stylized cross within. Sitting upon the helmet is a clenched paw (possibly lion) grasping a bird claw with four talons. The escutcheon is surrounded by mantling with banners both above and below, 'EX LIBRIS' in the above banner (along with a small fleur-de-lis dividing the two words). The lower banner has owner name and place within. Entire image is surrounded by an elaborate rectangle border, with fleur-de-lis at each corner. 4. [Bookplate for Hilda Shibley] Printed in black ink on white paper, the words 'EX LIBRIS' appear at the top of the bookplate, below which sits a winged stag facing left or a stag sitting on a winged cloud. Below the stag appear the words HILDA / SHIBLEY.'. 5. [Bookplate for Antony F. C. Tétrault] Printed in black ink on white paper, the bookplate shows an open book in front of a lit, winged torch. Below the book appear the words 'EX LIBRIS' below which sits a black dividing line approximately 1.2 CM long. Below the line appears the word 'DATE:' below which appears a dotted line for the addition of a hand-written date. Below the dotted line appears the name of the owner, 'Antony F. C. Tétrault.'. 6. [Bookplate for Alex Watters] Printed in black ink on cream or tan paper the book plate features a bare-chested female figure in an art deco style holding a foil in her right hand and wiping the blade with a cloth in her left hand. Behind the figure's head is a sun burst design. The figure wears an elaborate headpiece as well as an involved crescent moon necklace and a flowered sarong. To the left of the figure, the words 'Tis / DEATH / To / KEEP' appear vertically. To the right of the figure appear the words 'EX / LIBRIS' horizontally and the words 'ALEX / WATTERS' vertically. 7. [Bookseller's Tickets for J.A. Carveth & Co Limited] 1) In black ink on white paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a thin black border surrounding black text. 2) In blue ink on white paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a thin blue border surrounding blue text. 3) In black ink on white paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a thin black border surrounding black text. 8. [Bookplate for Henry Forbes Angus by Jack Macdonald] An art nouveau, pictorial bookplate using black ink on ivory paper. In the background is a sun with four series of rays alternating black and white. In front of the sun is a left hand holding a quarter-bound book with a floral statue on the cover (consisting of a circle of leaves encircling three white flowers with black centres, which are on top of a trunk). At both the dexter and sinister corners are black squares ; in the dexter square are the initials J / M. 9. [Bookplate for Margaret M. Howard by Leslie Victor Smith] Black ink on textured cream colored paper. The image depicts a tall ship at sea with all sails unfurled, listing to the right in a swell of water. The ship is contained within a circular border containing four quatrefoil points. Above, the phrase ‘Ex Libris’ is displayed within a scrolled banner across the top of the bookplate and the circle is framed by hanging garlands of varied types of flowers and ribbons. Below, a shelf depicts a row of bound books that part at the middle, with a blank sheet of paper and a feather quill resting in an inkwell. Below this, ‘Margaret M.
