[Bookplate by Colonist Lithography] In black ink on cream paper. The top center contains the coat of arms, flanked by elaborate leafy scrollwork. In the center is text in multiple bold fonts identifying the book number and library number (with gray rectangles where these numbers were handwritten). The bottom third contains the small text rules. Surrounding everything are two thin borders, between which, on the bottom edge, is the name of the lithographer. 2. [Bookplate for Elora Mechanics’ Institute] Black ink on cream paper. A stylized border surrounds text in multiple fonts, including a Gothic title. A number is handwritten at the top of the plate in pencil. 3. [Bookplate for Alfred C. Harmsworth] Black ink on cream paper. Crest features a crest-wreath with a knight’s right arm extended and bent at the elbow. The arm is armoured with a point at the elbow and circular decorations on the rest of the arm. The hand clutches a sword that has gone through a small lion’s head from the chin through to the crown. The lion has whiskers, but no mane. Below the crest, the bookplate owner’s name is written in black, sentence case, gothic font. 4. [Bookplate for Nanticoke Mechanics' Institute] Bookplate format is text within a solid border. 5. [Bookplate for Nanticoke Public Library] Bookplate format is text within a solid border. 6. [Bookplate] Printed in light black ink on white paper with some foxing. The text is surrounded by a patterned border. 7. [Bookplate for Brockville Library] In black ink on white paper, the bookplate consists of a thin black border close to the edge of the paper, surrounding a title above a decorative rule or bar, below which is the main text in black ink. 8. [Bookplate for Brockville Library] In black ink on tan paper, the bookplate consists of a double zigzag border surrounding black text. The library name at the top is flanked by two rosettes and separated from the remaining text by a decorative rule. 9. [Bookplate for Gamble Geddes] Black ink on cream paper. Crest features half a fish hauriant showing a fin, gills, and a head with teeth atop a crest-wreath. Sable shield charged with three of the aforementioned fish heads two over one and an argent insecutcheon. There is a ribbon-like banner with the motto below the shield with curling ends. Each side of the ribbon is angled towards a downward point. On the left side is text in capitalized black serif-font. The right side of the ribbon overlaps the left and has text in the same font. Below the motto, the owner’s name is written in curling sentence-case font. 10. [Bookplate by James Gourlay Gray] Metallic brown black ink on cream paper. Border of two thin black lines with floral and leafy decorative features on the left and right sides. Latin script printed at the top of the bookplate in capitalized font with curling serif. An inner border surrounds two images. The top image has a black background with four white shining stars in the background. In the centre is a half circle strip with curled sends over marbled colouring, all of which surrounds sheet music. On top of the sheet music is a small harp-like instrument with horns protruding from it. At the top of the heart is a candle holder with smoke swirling from the top. On the outer left-hand side of the half-circle decoration is a reclining woman styled like a classical status in a draping dress. She is holding a pan flute in her right hand. On the right hand side, another similarly styled woman is reclining and holding a paint easel with several brushes in her left hand. Both women are barefooted. The bottom image has a thick marbled border. Within the border is a curlicue decoration, in the centre of which is an image of a work desk. There is a photograph hanging on the wall behind the desk. The desk itself is quite cluttered and features many photographs, papers, and books. The walls have decorative wall paper and there are various wall hangings. Below that section are two horizontal strips of different decorations. The top stripe has a dark snake like curving pattern, the borders of which are decorated with stylized, pointed lines. Thin white stripes are at the top and bottom of the horizontal strip. A row of small white dots separates this pattern from the next strip, which is a series of floral leaves curling in a line to meet at the centre. Below that, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in capitalized serif font with extra stylizing on the “A”s. 11. [Bookplate for Library of the Hamilton and Gore Mechanics’ Institute] Black ink on pale pinkish tan paper. Ornate curlicue border with circular corner designs. Multiple fonts are present. The library title is written in bold and non-bold capital letters, while the institute name is written in title case with gothic script. Separated by thin straight lines, the card number field is written in stylized bold font. The lending rules are written in serif font. 12. [Bookplate for Library of the Hamilton and Gore Mechanics’ Institute] Black ink on tan paper. Curlicue and straight-line border. Multiple fonts are present. The library title is written in bold and non-bold capital letters, with the institute name in sentence case gothic script. Separated by centered, thin straight lines, there is a left aligned field for class and a right aligned field for card number written in bold serif font. The lending rules are written in italicized serif font. 13. [Bookplate for Library of the Hamilton and Gore Mechanics’ Institute] Black ink on yellow paper. Ornate curlicue floral border. Multiple fonts are present. The library title is written in bold and non-bold capital letters. The name of the institute is written in title case with gothic script. Separated by thin straight lines, the card number field is written in bold, stylized font.
