81. [Bookplate for Andrew Jack] [Bookplate for Andrew Jack] Black ink on yellow paper. An ornate border consists of two parts: an inner border of thick black line with rounded corners, outlined with thin black lines on each side and punctuated with evenly spaced scrolls ; an outer border of a repeated fan design with small pairs of circles between each fan. All four corners of the border have a trefoil on the inner edge and a diamond on the outer edge. Border houses the name, location, and date of the bookplate.
82. [Bookplate by James Gourlay Gray] [Bookplate by James Gourlay Gray] Metallic brown black ink on cream paper. Border of two thin black lines with floral and leafy decorative features on the left and right sides. Latin script printed at the top of the bookplate in capitalized font with curling serif. An inner border surrounds two images. The top image has a black background with four white shining stars in the background. In the centre is a half circle strip with curled sends over marbled colouring, all of which surrounds sheet music. On top of the sheet music is a small harp-like instrument with horns protruding from it. At the top of the heart is a candle holder with smoke swirling from the top. On the outer left-hand side of the half-circle decoration is a reclining woman styled like a classical status in a draping dress. She is holding a pan flute in her right hand. On the right hand side, another similarly styled woman is reclining and holding a paint easel with several brushes in her left hand. Both women are barefooted. The bottom image has a thick marbled border. Within the border is a curlicue decoration, in the centre of which is an image of a work desk. There is a photograph hanging on the wall behind the desk. The desk itself is quite cluttered and features many photographs, papers, and books. The walls have decorative wall paper and there are various wall hangings. Below that section are two horizontal strips of different decorations. The top stripe has a dark snake like curving pattern, the borders of which are decorated with stylized, pointed lines. Thin white stripes are at the top and bottom of the horizontal strip. A row of small white dots separates this pattern from the next strip, which is a series of floral leaves curling in a line to meet at the centre. Below that, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in capitalized serif font with extra stylizing on the “A”s.
83. [Bookplate for Charles Theodore Hart] [Bookplate for Charles Theodore Hart] Black ink on cream paper. Crest features the head of a stag in profile on a crest-wreath. The shield is pointed at the top left, top right, and bottom corners. The bottom of the shield curves to a central point. The shield is argent with a sable chevron charged with two stars on the top left and top right sides. The stars are white with black shading and a black circle in the center. Below the chevron the shield is charged with a springing stag. Below the shield the motto is printed on a ribbon in capitalized, serif font. Underneath the motto is the bookplate owner’s name in curling, italicized font.
84. [Bookplate for E. J. Hodgson] [Bookplate for E. J. Hodgson] Black ink on cream paper. The crest features a bird perched on a crest-wreath. The bird has elaborate head and tail feathers and is holding a leafy branch in its beak. Curling, leafy mantling surrounds the shield, which is divided per chevron engrailed. The top portion of the shield is argent with sable dots and charged with two trussed sable striped birds. The bottom portion of the shield is sable striped and is charged with a trussed argent bird with sable dots. Below the shield, the motto is printed on a ribbon with curling ends. The mottos is written in black, capitalized, sans serif font. The last s in “SPES” has been thickened by hand. Below the motto, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in black, sentence case, stylized gothic font with curling spirals.
85. [Bookplate for James Scott Howard] [Bookplate for James Scott Howard] Black ink on cream paper. Crest features a ship’s steering wheel with stringy foliage extending from the left and leafy foliage extending from the right atop a crest-wreath. Shield is sable and party per fess. Top section is charged with a white cross in the center with a fleur-de-lis on either side. The bottom section is charged with a white ship steering wheel that is identical to the one in the crest. The motto is printed on curling ribbon below the shield in capitalized, serif, white block font with black outline. Below the motto, the bookplate owner’s name Is printed in sentence case, black, serif font.
86. [Bookplate for John Hamilton by Francis Adams Sc.] [Bookplate for John Hamilton by Francis Adams Sc.] Black ink on cream paper. One motto is printed on a ribbon with ends that extend to two points at the top of the bookplate. Motto is printed in capitalized, serif block letters. Below that motto is a crest featuring a leafy tree growing out of a crown. The crown’s points are rounded and leafy. The base of the crown is decorated with horizontal diamonds. The tree trunk grows through a picture frame with a saw attached to the center. The free is growing through this frame/saw object and has extensive, dense foliage. The entire crest sits atop a twisted wreath. The shield has extended points to the top left and right and the bottom curls to a point. The shield is sable and argent, divided per quarterly. The top left and bottom right sections are sable and charged with three white flowers, two over one. The flowers have distinct round centers and five individual, separate petals. The top right and bottom left section are argent and charged with a Viking-style ship with three oars, a flag pointing to the left at the front and rear of the ship, and a tall mast. The sail is rolled up on the mast in a horizontal line. Four lines extend from the sail down to the ship. There is a flag at the top of the mast, with two lines extending down to the sail. Curlicue mantling decorates the shield from the base upwards. A second motto is printed on a ribbon with two pointed ends at the base of the shield. The text is printed in capitalized, serif, black font. The name of the bookplate owner is printed below this motto in thin, sentence case, cursive font. In the bottom right corner the name of the bookplate creator is printed in small, italicized, sentence case black font.
87. [Bookplate for William Swift Keyser] [Bookplate for William Swift Keyser] Black ink on cream paper. The crest features an esquire helm with elaborate mantling extending out along both sides of the bookplate. Extended, feathery wings rise out of the top of the helm. The helm sites directly on the shield, which is divided per pale and per rounded chevron. The three parts of the shield are different colour. The upper left portion is argent, the upper right side portion has vertical sable lines, and the rounded bottom portion has horizontal sable lines. Sitting atop the rounded bottom portion is a king. The man is sitting cross-legged and holds a sword in his left hand and a rounded vessel with a cross on top in his right hand. The man is wearing a crown and a cape. He has long hair and a small beard. Below the shield, the bookplate owner’s name is printed on a curling ribbon in capitalized, bold, serif font. Underneath the ribbon, text is printed in sentence case, thin, cursive font followed by a line of small black dots. There is a black ink smudge on the bottom right corner of the bookplate.
88. [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by S. Harrod] [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by S. Harrod] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate image is surrounded by a border consisting of wide ribbons at the top and bottom wrapped around twisted rope on the left and right sides. The rope ends are knotted with three beaded and then frayed ends extending on each end of the rope. The top ribbon has printed, black, stylized gothic font in sentence case. Some text is separated by clusters of four diamonds. Inside the border is an image depicting a frigate with two masts and large sails billowing in the wind. Ribbons extend form the top of the sails. A smaller sail on a smaller mast is at the front of the ship. The ship is in an ocean with several waves. The bottom ribbon is more elaborated curling than the top ribbon. It has printed, black, stylized font in sentence case, but is smaller in size. Below the ribbon to the left and right is thin, sans-serif, capitalized font.
89. [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by T. Z.] [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by T. Z.] Black ink on white paper. Image has overall appearance of watercolour. There is text printed in sans serif capitalized black font in the top left and top right corners. The bookplate background is a multihued pale gray. The image depicts a street in Bruges. A stone church is in the background, with a tall, pointed tower. A lower part of the church is visible, with upper level balconies visible. The windows are decorated at the top with crosses. To the right of that part of the building is the roof of another building, also decorated with crosses at the uppermost part of the roof. A couple other towers are visible in the distance behind these buildings. At the forefront of the image is a dark bridge/archway. Through the archway are several trees in the church yard. The arch itself has a round decorative feature in the center. The left hand side of the arch is lighter, with two round stone towers extending up. The central part of the bridge/arch and the buildings on the right hand side are in shadow. The building on the right hand side is shorter and squarer, with a window by the top of the arch and a rounded door on the ground. There is shading in front of the archway that then lightens. In the lightened portion is printed capitalized, black text in serif font. In the bottom right corner are overlapping letters, a Z and a T.
90. [Bookplate for George Kerr] [Bookplate for George Kerr] Grey ink on green-grey paper. The bookplate is in the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners and a bulging circle in the center. The top portion of the bookplate features a half circle basic graphic of the sun on the horizon. The design is created using simple lines. Surrounding this image are half circles of various sizes with thick borders on the outside and several thinner inner borders on the inside. The circle shape in the center has a thick border decorated with two thick black lines that are intersected by plain crisscrosses three times each on the left and right-hand sides. There are some decorative shapes at the top of the circle, forming a small point. Below those shapes text is printed in capitalized, block, grey letters. The center of the circle depicts a man in a wig and robe reading a large book. The spine of the book and face of the man are facing the viewer. The background of the image is comprised of thin, black, horizontal lines. The bookplate owner’s name is printed below the image in large, capitalized, block serif grey font. Decorative shapes like the one at the top of the circle extend from the bottom as well, forming a larger point. The base of the bookplate is decorated with various rounded shapes, in both oblong and tear drop shape, filled with thinner black lines. A plain section extends from the bottom left and right corners up to the middle of the bookplate, meeting the text at the base of the central circle. In these sections are printed mottos in smaller, capitalized, sans-serif font.
91. [Bookplate for Ruth Delia Lyman] [Bookplate for Ruth Delia Lyman] Black ink on cream paper. A demi-bull sites atop a crest-wreath. The bull has its top legs up and a curling tail, as well as two horns. The motto is printed below the crest-wreath on a curling ribbon in capitalized, black, sans serif font. Below this image, two lines of text is printed in large, capitalized, black, sans serif font.
92. [Bookplate for Thomas Nickleson Jeffery by C. W. Torbett] [Bookplate for Thomas Nickleson Jeffery by C. W. Torbett] The armorial bookplate features a coat of arms. The escutcheon (shield) appears to be the impalement, or combining, of two distinct coats of arms into one shield. The dexter (right) shield is quartered: the repeated pattern features naiant (swimming) dolphins in an azure chevron between three leopard faces ; roses in a divided field of ermine (white with black tincture) and erminois (gold with black tincture) ; and a pheon (barbed arrow head) over an embattled field of sable and azure. Sinister (left) is a lion passant (lion depicted facing and walking to the left), which appears to be the shield of Jeffrey’s family through marriage, the Uniackes. Above the shield is a crest featuring a tree and a leopard with a horizontal anchor under its paw. Below the shield is a motto.
93. [Bookplate for Morley Ayearst by Stanley Howard] [Bookplate for Morley Ayearst by Stanley Howard] Black ink on white paper. Bookplate design mimics a decorative medieval manuscript. An elaborate letter A is decorated with interlocking swirls and a Celtic knot pattern. Decorative features surround the letter and below it is stylized black font surrounded by black dots. There is also text in the same font above and to the right of the letter A.
94. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] The central image is of three snow capped white mountains with black and grey bases. The foremost of the mountains starts at the right half of the image and moves backwards towards the left. Rapping around the image of the closest mountain near the separation between black, grey and white colours is the image of a green asian dragon with orange wings.
95. [Bookplate for Eiichi Hirose] [Bookplate for Eiichi Hirose] The central image is a black square with an irregular stick figure done in white with orange blocks within it. Where the head should be there is a black and orange eye.
96. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] A grey postage stamp ridge surrounds the central black outlined rectangle that contains the central image. The central image is of a brown roofed Shinto/Buddhist shrine with a blue road leading beneath twin orange pillars with a black crossbeam at the top. Two blue stone lanterns sit next to the outwards side of each pillar. The image is set on a yellow field.
97. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] A black outlined fan shaped segway, with the larger side facing upwards contains the central image of the bookplate. The central image is of a black tree sitting on the left with numerous green covered branches drooping downward. A blue Mt. Fuji sits in the background and numerous grey lines drawn amongst the two images suggest the presence of rain within the scene.
98. [Bookplate for Maija Calite by Richards Skrubis] [Bookplate for Maija Calite by Richards Skrubis] Image is of a side profile of a woman (possibly originator) against a black and white background. There is a braid done in a circular pattern at the back of her hair and she is facing to the right.

Cameron by Soderberg] Image is of a portrait shaped border composed of three black fillets surrounding alternating images, also flowing around the interior border, of thistles alternating between facing upwards and down. On the interior side of the frame of thistles are two more black fillets separating the frame of thistles from the central image of a large thistle and its leaves facing upwards.
100. [Bookplate for Geoffrey Davies] [Bookplate for Geoffrey Davies] The central image is of a white frame holding black rope within it connected to a central black rectangular frame in the centre of the bookplate. The bookplate has been designed to look like a picture.
