At the top, the University of Toronto shield sits to the left of the text. In the middle is a picture of Hart House as seen from above. At the bottom is the name of the donor.

Kunze] The escutcheon is barry of ten pieces, sable (black) and or (gold), containing a vert (green) riband with an engrailed sinister edge. The shield is mounted within a crowned and tied-back coat.

Nickel] In brown ink, a sun radiates light over the background of the image from the top left corner. Included in the background is a crescent moon in the top right corner, an hourglass, in the lower left corner, and a compass in the lower right corner. In the foreground is a chaplet encircling a coat of arms. Atop the helm is a bird, possibly a falcon. The helm itself is front facing and grated (no significance in German heraldry). From either side of the helmet flow elaborate sprawls of mantling which curl down to the sides of the escucheon. The escucheon, in gules, (red) represented by lines drawn from chief to the base, is bordered in or (gold). Centered in the shield is a heavily bound book, with what appear to be latches to prevent unworthy eyes from reading its contents. From the top and bottom of the book flow a place marking ribbon.

Horvath] In brown ink, this elaborate bookplate depicts an artistic representation of the light of ten candles radiating through what appears to be the shape of the ten commandment tablets. The light energy streams up between a floral arrangement of roses and another flower through an encircled Star of David and into the heavens represented by stars and a cresent moon.

Horvath] This beautiful bookplate in black ink on thin brown paper presents us with a view of a village and a hill top castle through an opening in the trees. In the foreground is a stack of books, with one book open facing the observer, and a vase filled with flowers.

Horvath] In red ink on brown paper, this bookplate presents us with a garden scene showing a young amorous couple coming down a pathway. In the background, we see a garden retreat, a fence and gate, and a water fountain. In the foreground is a bench, on which lie a lyre, an open book, a stem and flowers, and what appears to be a floral wreath or possibly a scarf. On the right are steps leading off the page on which sit a stone sphinx.

Mussett - The Heraldic Studio] In brown ink, escutcheon divided quarterly. The first and fourth quadrants divided per pale, or (gold) and azure (blue), three stags trippant, two over one, all counter changed. The second and third quadrants, or, with a fess, gules (red) between three olive branches, two over one. Atop the escutcheon is a helmet with mantling, below a demi-dragon crest, azure, gorged, argent (silver).

56. [Bookplate for John Bonsall Porter] [Bookplate for John Bonsall Porter] This heraldic bookplate is printed on cream paper with dark brown ink, and consists of an escutcheon, sable (black), charged with three church bells, two over one. Above the escutcheon is a helmet at three quarters profile in esquire form, with mantling radiating from it. Above the helmet is a straight wreath crested by the head of a lion in profile. Above the crest is a banner, with first Latin motto within. Below the escutcheon is another banner, with second Latin motto within.

57. [Bookplate for Hood] [Bookplate for Hood] This bookplate consists of a escutcheon, azure (blue) and a fret, argent (silver), with a chief, or (gold), charged with three crescents. The shield features an inescutcheon or, with a chevron sable (black), charged with three wildcat heads cabossed, two over one. Above the inescutcheon is another small escutcheon argent, with a human hand gules, indicating the status of Knight and Baronet. Above the escutcheon is a viscount coronet, and the escutcheon is supported by a merman at dexter and a mermaid at sinister. Below the escutcheon is a banner, with Latin motto within. Below entire achievement is bookplate owner's name.

Knight is carrying a banner in a wooded area. Background design is of a town or dwellings at a distance. Bookplate text contained within banner at base of design.
