61. [Bookplate for George Kerr] [Bookplate for George Kerr] Grey ink on green-grey paper. The bookplate is in the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners and a bulging circle in the center. The top portion of the bookplate features a half circle basic graphic of the sun on the horizon. The design is created using simple lines. Surrounding this image are half circles of various sizes with thick borders on the outside and several thinner inner borders on the inside. The circle shape in the center has a thick border decorated with two thick black lines that are intersected by plain crisscrosses three times each on the left and right-hand sides. There are some decorative shapes at the top of the circle, forming a small point. Below those shapes text is printed in capitalized, block, grey letters. The center of the circle depicts a man in a wig and robe reading a large book. The spine of the book and face of the man are facing the viewer. The background of the image is comprised of thin, black, horizontal lines. The bookplate owner’s name is printed below the image in large, capitalized, block serif grey font. Decorative shapes like the one at the top of the circle extend from the bottom as well, forming a larger point. The base of the bookplate is decorated with various rounded shapes, in both oblong and tear drop shape, filled with thinner black lines. A plain section extends from the bottom left and right corners up to the middle of the bookplate, meeting the text at the base of the central circle. In these sections are printed mottos in smaller, capitalized, sans-serif font.
62. [Bookplate for J.E.G. Bibliothèque] [Bookplate for J.E.G. Bibliothèque] Green ink on white paper. Thin green border is straight on the left, right, and bottom sides and rounded on top. Three capitalized letters are printed in stylized, rounded green font. Below the letters is text in pseudo-gothic sentence-case font. Underneath that text is a small green circle with two lines extending from its left and right. Below is text in the previous pseudo-gothic font in a larger size. There are several images underneath the text. There is a line of three images: an open book with curling pages in the center with a six-pointed star on either side. The left star has a plus sign in the middle and the right star has a question mark in its center. Three more images are below: a green owl on a branch in the center with lit oil lamps on either side. The lamps each point inwards towards the owl and sit on thin green lines. Below the images is a thin green oval border that is straight on the top and bottom sides. Inside is curling thin green text sitting on a thin green line. At the right end of the line is another thicker perpendicular green line dividing the oval into two uneven sections.

[Bookplate for Wallace Wilson and Ethel Wilson] [Bookplate for Wallace Wilson and Ethel Wilson] Executed in green ink on a white background, this bookplate depicts a peaceful scene of nature redolent of British Columbia. In the foreground is an evergreen tree behind which birds soar in the distance over mountains. Below the mountains is a forest that frames a lake. Overlooking the lake is a cabin emitting smoke from its roof, while in the lake's center is a fishing boat with two occupants. The text is placed beneath this scene and is framed in each of its four corners by an open book and scroll at the top, and closed books at the bottom.

The image is of a desk facing a window with two panes (each divided into eight sections) opening onto a view of an inlet and three mountains. A totem pole is behind the sinister pane. Drawn curtains are on both the sinister and dexter sides of the window. Above the window is a ribbon inscribed with "ALL LEARNING BUT AN ART TO LIVE WELL." On the desk, from left to right, is a painter's palette with two paint brushes, an open book, a ruler, ink well, fountain pen, pencils, card catalogue drawer, index card, small closed book, and a bust of Shakespeare. Below the bust are inscribed the initials "G.P.V.A."

A plain border with a thin brown outline on the outside and thick brown outline on the inside. The image in the center of the bookplate is surrounded by a decorative background. The background has brown dots overlaid with thin white leaves on a stem. The stems curl around the left and right sides of the image. The image in the center is surrounded by a border comprised of three petaled leaves. At the top, bottom, left, and right of the border are two crossed strips covering the leaves. A dark inner border separates the decorative leaves from the center image. The image itself depicts two women sitting in an ancient Grecian scene. There is a building with arches in the left background. Next to the building, right behind the women is a large, shaded column. The foregrounded woman is sitting on a platform. Behind her is a small bowl of flowers. The same flowers decorate her dark hair in a floral crown. She is wearing a flowing white dress with a jewelry band around her right arm, which is holding onto her knees. At her feet is a lyre perched against another ledge. Behind the lyre is a dark, three-legged vessel with smoke pouring from it. There are some bushes behind the vessel and a plain horizon with a dark landscape and a pale sky. To the left of the vessel is a woman either standing or on her knees ; her legs are blocked from view by the sitting woman. The woman is playing a wind instrument, potentially an aulos. Her hair is in a half bun and half down. The ribbons in her hair are also flowing behind her head. Curling ribbons extend from below the image’s bottom border. A thicker ribbon rolls out below the ribbon. The bookplate owner’s name is printed in capitalized, serif font. Each word in the owner’s name is printed on its own line, with each line becoming increasingly indented. Two daisy flowers on stems are printed to the left of the last word in the owner’s name.

68. [Bookplate for Ruth Goodell by Alexander Scott Carter] [Bookplate for Ruth Goodell by Alexander Scott Carter] Black ink on yellow paper. The scene is framed by an architectural arch with a column on each side, decorated with stylized vines and leaves. At the top left- and right-hand corners, initials are separated by a banner in the centre. The background features a mountain with a silhouette of a tree (possibly a laurel) on the left-hand side. The foreground depicts an ancient Greek amphora (vase with handles) with a frieze of figures and decorative patterns. To the left is an open book with a scroll above it identifying the artist and date of the bookplate. To the right of the vase is a globe showing a stylized representation of North and South America. Other closed books surround these objects.
69. [Bookplate for Andrew Jack] [Bookplate for Andrew Jack] Black ink on yellow paper. An ornate border consists of two parts: an inner border of thick black line with rounded corners, outlined with thin black lines on each side and punctuated with evenly spaced scrolls ; an outer border of a repeated fan design with small pairs of circles between each fan. All four corners of the border have a trefoil on the inner edge and a diamond on the outer edge. Border houses the name, location, and date of the bookplate.
70. [Bookplate for Vincent Massey and Alice Massey by Alexander Scott Carter] [Bookplate for Vincent Massey and Alice Massey by Alexander Scott Carter] Black ink on white paper. This coat of arms is described in great detail by the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada (RHSC), in their 'Members' Roll of Arms,' under the entry for the Rt. Hon. Charles Vincent Massey. They write: 'The arms argent [silver], on a chevron sable [black] between three lozenges of the last, each charged with a fleur de lis of the first, three stags' heads erased or [gold] ; on a canton azure [blue], a representation of the crest of Canada as an honourable augmentation. The crest out of an antique crown or, a bull's head sable, armed gold, charged on the neck with a lozenge argent, thereon a fleur de lis also sable.' This bookplate adheres to the design described above by the RHSC, though the 'honourable augmentation,' of the Canadian crest in dexter chief, does not appear in this escutcheon.

73. [Bookplate for R. A. A. Jones] [Bookplate for R. A. A. Jones] Black ink on white paper. The crest features an armoured arm extending straight out of a crest-wreath. The hand is clutching a spear with points on either end. Droplets are falling from the right spear point. The shield is black with a white chevron. The chevron has a thin white border along its top and bottom edges. The shield is charged with three white double-ended spears, the same style as that in the crest, two over one. The spears have a more elaborate top tip with a line down the middle, with the bottom tip being a simple, undecorated triangle shape. Below the shield, the motto is printed in black, capitalized, serif font. The ribbon has curling ends that split into two with rounds on each end. Underneath the motto, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in large, sentence case, black cursive font.
74. [Bookplate for Hugel] [Bookplate for Hugel] Black ink on white paper. The crest features a lion rampant holding a flower with three petals between its paws. The lion stands atop a crown with elaborate, feathery wings extending upwards to the left and right. The crown is round and flat and decorated with three diamonds across the front. The crown sits on the head of a baronet and knight helm. Elaborate, curling mantling extends to the left and right and down the bookplate, becoming blacker towards the ends. The shield is divided per cross. The top left and bottom right sections are sable and charged with a lion rampant. The lion in the top left faces to the right, whereas the lion in the bottom right faces to the left. Like the lion in the crest, these lions hold a flower with three petals in their paws. The top right and bottom left sections of the shield are argent with sable dots. They are each charged with three black diamonds, two over one. The diamonds have black shading on the right-hand sides. Below the shield, a curling ribbon with non-straight edges has the motto printed in black, capitalized, serif font. Below the ribbon, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in elaborate, black, large, sentence case, Gothic font with extensive curling decorations surrounding the text.
75. [Bookplate for John George Hodgins] [Bookplate for John George Hodgins] Black ink on white paper. The crest features a displayed black bird on a crest-wreath. At the top left of the bird, next to the tip of its wing, is a small radiating sun with a face in the middle. There is an esquire’s helm surrounded by dark, feathery mantling. The border of the shield is similarly elaborate. The shield is argent and charged with an argent cross with thin black border around each rectangular section. The shield is also charged with five black flowers that have five round petals and a circular black center. There is a flower in each corner of the shield and one in the center of the cross with a thin, black, square border. Below the shield, the motto is printed on a ribbon with curling, darkened ends. The motto is written in black, capitalized, serif font. Below the ribbon, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in black, sentence case, Gothic font.
76. [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by S. Harrod] [Bookplate for Stanley Harrod by S. Harrod] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate image is surrounded by a border consisting of wide ribbons at the top and bottom wrapped around twisted rope on the left and right sides. The rope ends are knotted with three beaded and then frayed ends extending on each end of the rope. The top ribbon has printed, black, stylized gothic font in sentence case. Some text is separated by clusters of four diamonds. Inside the border is an image depicting a frigate with two masts and large sails billowing in the wind. Ribbons extend form the top of the sails. A smaller sail on a smaller mast is at the front of the ship. The ship is in an ocean with several waves. The bottom ribbon is more elaborated curling than the top ribbon. It has printed, black, stylized font in sentence case, but is smaller in size. Below the ribbon to the left and right is thin, sans-serif, capitalized font.
77. [Bookplate for B. E. Hutchinson] [Bookplate for B. E. Hutchinson] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate has two sections. The first section has thick borders on the left and right with white outlines. The top border is like a shelf with a slightly shorter, darker section below a longer, paler section. Within the frame is a picture of a house built on the shore of a river. The river is foregrounded at the bottom of the frame. The cliff is rocky with a few trees on it. The house is large and has a brick chimney on the right side. Behind the house are several taller trees. Below that image is a shelf-like structure. The top and bottom shelves are supported by Grecian-style columns. A row of books is shelved in between the two columns. The bookplate owner’s name is printed in black, capitalized, serif font. Each letter is printed on a spine of a book so the name is off kilter when the books are slanted. In front of the shelved books is an open book propped up on a closed book.
78. [Bookplate for Andrew J. Kirpatrick] [Bookplate for Andrew J. Kirpatrick] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate has a thick black border with a thin inner white border. The bookplate is divided into two parts: the larger part has black corners that round on the inside. A thistle is printed in white on each corner. There is a white border with a thin black border inside it. At the top, a banner with curling ends sweeps across the bookplate. On the banner, the motto is printed in capitalized, black, serif font. Below the ribbon, an armoured arm extends from a crest-wreath. The right hand is clutching a dagger with the blade pointing to the left. Plants with leaves and berries on a branch extend from the left and right-hand sides of the bookplates. Below that image, there is a white horizontal rectangle with a thin black border. Inside the rectangle, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in cramped, stylized, large, black block font.

Perforated edges with round corners surround the bookplate. The bookplate is surrounded by an incomplete border of two black lines that do not connect at the top. There are spaced out diamond shapes on the border with black circular centres. At the top, the border folds into triangles at the left and right corners. Each corner has a square flower with four petals and one leaf with a darker background. The border frames an image with a rounded pointed top. The image shows a desk with a window looking onto a moving steam engine. At the top of the image is a circle with a white border. In the centre on a gray background is a griffin rampant on a crest-wreath. The steam engine is outside the window in the centre of the bookplate with steam pouring out. The window has vertical and horizontal stripes with black circles at the intersections of the stripes. There is a curtain on either side of the window. Nothing sits on the window ledge, but on the desk in front is half of a lamp with a decorative, bell-shaped shade, eight books with different spine designs, an ink pot with a feather quill in it, and a workspace with several papers on it. Below the image is a black rectangle with capitalized white font. At the centre of the top and bottom of the rectangle is a slight downward facing point. Below the bottom point in black ink are the initials of the creator and the year of creation.

Border has white outlines, shaded for a three-dimensional effect and is filled in with thin black lines. The top and bottom sides of the border indent in the middle with squared corners. The left and right sides of the border indent in the middle with rounded corners. The top half of the bookplate has diagonal black lines extending wider from the centre. The top left corner features a person wearing a feathered headdress and a sash holding arrows in their left hand and a bow in their right hand. They are standing on a decorative ledge connected to the border and sitting atop of an elaborate curlicue. The right corner has the same curlicue and ledge and a person in a long coat and striped hat holding a pouch stands atop it. Between the two figures is an open book. The bottom of the top half of the bookplate contains half a round map of the world surrounded by a thick border of the same style as the overall bookplate border. The owner’s motto is written across the map’s border in thin, capitalized, sans-serif font. A rectangular border of the same design sits in the centre of the bookplate. The top of the border features large, captitalized, serif block font. The font is white with a black background and white stripes surrounding that background. On either side of that text are half circle decorations in a vertical stack between two thin white borders. The centre of the rectangle within the borders has a grey background with capitalized, sans-serif block font printed on top. The font is black with a white outline and dark shading. Two shields hang below the rectangle on the left and right side. The shield on the left is argent with sable dots per fess. The top third of the crest is charged with two fleurs-des-lis. The central portion of the crest, featuring sable and argent stripes. is charged with a lion passant guardant. The bottom third of the crest is charged with three maple leaves with connected stems. The shield on the right is per pale consisting of sable and argent stripes and argent with sable dots. The left side is charged with two lions passant that are argent with sable dots. The right side is charged with a lion sejant erect and eight hearts, each of which are sable and argent striped. Between the two crests, hanging from the central rectangular feature, is a checkered black rectangle with white borders on the left, right, and bottom sides. White curlicues extend from the left and right sides. Similar curlicues, leafy decoration, and black strip adorned with small circles extend from the bottom of the rectangle. The background of the bottom half of the bookplate not covered with other decorative features has the same black stripes as the top half. In the bottom left and right corners of the bookplate are four books each, spines facing out. Next to the books on the left is a black inkwell with two feather quills in it. Next to the inkwell is a beehive on a wooden platform surrounded by five bees. On the right of the beehive is an oil lamp with a bright flame burning. Outside the bottom border, inside the indent, the bookplate creator’s name and date of creation is printed in thin, black, sentence-case, serif font.
