[Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] A hand made bookplate with a rectangular green border. The central image of a tropical flower (Hibiscus) presides in the picture. It is mounted in a green vase, has green leaves and a red flower with nine separate crosses in the centre. 2. [Bookplate for Ágoston Tamás-György and J. E. Horvath by K. M. S.] This bookplate uses some architectural features to create a grid with nine cells. The centre of the image has a panel with the ownership information. The top of this panel serves as the floor for two figures practicing fencing that are framed with an arch. This arch is supported on two square boxes at the top corners of the image. There is a flower vase on top and books inside each box. Similar boxes with apple branches mark the bottom corners. The spaces between these boxes are supported by columns that flank two sportive figures, a hockey player on the left and a hunter on the right. In the bottom central area a small row boat sits in water. 3. [Bookplate for Earl Gower by Griffiths and Weigall] This heraldic bookplate consists of a escutcheon, divided per cross or quarterly. Quarters one and four are argent (silver) with bars, gules (red) and charged with a cross patonce, sable (black). Quarters two and three are azure (blue) charged with leaves, two over one. The escutcheon is supported by two wolves rampant. Upon the escutcheon is a crown of earl status (minus the internal cap). Above the escutcheon is a crest of a wolf passant upon a straight wreath. Below the escutcheon is a banner with Latin motto within. 4. [Bookplate for Albert Prince by Dempsey and Carroll] This heraldic bookplate consists of an escutcheon, divided per cross, with quarters one and four also divided per cross. Within quarters one and four, the sub-quarters one and four are gules (red), charged with three lions passant guardant (for England). Sub-quarter two is or (gold), with a tressure-flory-counter -flory, charged with a lion rampant (for Scotland). Subquarter three is azure (blue), charged with a harp decorated with harpy figure features, stringed (for Ireland). The entire escutcheon is charged with a bar dovetailed, or a label, a cadency mark indicating being the eldest son (during his father's lifetime). Quarters two and three have a barry of ten, or and sable (black), with a bend in the shape of a ducal crown (without the cap). Surrounding the escutcheon is a garter, with first French motto within. Above the escutcheon is a royal crown. Supporting the escutcheon at dexter is a lion guardant, charged with a label. At sinister is a unicorn rampant, also charged with a label, as well as a royal crown without the cap as a collar. Below the escutcheon is a ribbon, with second German motto within. The entire achievement is surrounded by very fine lines, giving the impression of shadow. 5. [Bookplate for Denis Le Marchant] In black ink. No Escutcheon. Ducal coronet, on top of which is an upside down cock leg. 6. [Bookplate for Martha Gold Morgan] In black ink on textured paper. At the top of the bookplate, appears a small image of a lion's head, erased, crowned and charged on a straight wreath. The lion's head, set on a white coin above a scroll with the Morgan motto, is the traditional badge of the clan. Two flowers flank the lion motif and one appears centered below the bottom compartment. These designs are set on a background displaying the silhouette of a tree and wind-blown leaves. Morgan's name is written in large black print on white background. 7. [Bookplate for Lesslie M. Sweetnam by F. F. H.] Printed in black ink on white or cream paper, the bookplate shows a figure reading a book while sitting at a roll top desk with his / her back facing the viewer. The desk is flanked on either side by full bookcases and is topped by a reading lamp, additional books, and a small picture frame. Two framed objects hang on the wall above the desk. 8. [Bookplate for Hill’s Lending Library] Black ink on yellow pink paper with clipped corners. Capitalized serif-font followed with by a line of stylized bold block lettering with decorative serifs. Next line contains smaller bold serif font in sentence case. Text is then separated by a thin, centered line. Subsequent text written in capitalized, bold, sans-serif font. Below that is smaller, capitalized serif font that is then written in sentence case in the second half of the line. The next four lines use quotation marks to indicate repeat content with some sentence case serif font additions. There is then a line with some capitalized and some sentence case serif font, followed by the same four line pattern of quotation marks and sentence case font. Below that is a line of sentence case serif font. The next line uses capital letters for emphasis followed by sentence case serif font. There is a line of capitalized serif font followed by larger, sentence case bold serif font. The text is separated by a thin centered line. Below the line are capital letters in serif font followed by larger capitalization font in bold, then smaller non-bold capitalized text, then larger bold capitalized text. A shorter thin line separates the text. Below the line are four lines of sentence case serif font. Next is a line in capitalized serif font followed by a smaller, bold line of capitalized serif font. The last line is written in smaller, sentence case, serif font. 9. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia and Alice Ravenhill] Black ink on white paper. The bookplate features a border consisting of several black lines with X designs in the corners. There is the University of British Columbia crest. The chief has a dark background and features an open book with its straps lying out. The university motto is printed in stylized black font on the book’s open pages. The bottom section of the map was alternating black and white lines. From the bottom of the shield is part of a sun with its rays extending upwards. The sun is charged with black dots. To the right of the shield is stylized gothic text in large, black font. Below it is text printed in smaller, cursive, black font.
