[Bookplate for Foley] In black ink, this bookplate consists of an escutcheon, argent (silver), containing a fess, sable (black) and engrailed, and three cinquefoil, two over one. The escutcheon is within a bordure, sable. The escutcheon is crested by a baron's coronet, on top of which is a straight crest wreath and a lion, rampant, holding a miniture of the same escutcheon. On either side of the central escutcheon are lion supporters, charged with five cinquefoil each. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto. 62. [Bookplate for Charles Manby by Suffield] In black ink, this bookplate consists of an escutcheon divided per pale, with a stylized bordure. The dexter quadrant, gules (red), is charged with a lion rampant and a chief, argent (silver), with three martlets. The sinister quadrant, gules, is charged with four etoiles, two over two, and contains a canton, coloured ermine (white powdered fur with black tufts), in the dexter chief of the quadrant, covering two-thirds of the etoile in that location. The canton represents the banner of the ancient Knights Banneret, which is an honourable order which has become extinct. It was on order conferred upon persons, recognized by a king or general, that had perfomed some heroic act on the battlefield. The escutcheon is crested by a straight wreath and a lion passant guardant, holding what appears to be a millrind, sable (black) in its dexter paw. The millrind is placed in the centre of a grindstone to protect the hole in the centre from the action of the axis ; it is a charge frequently used by persons connected with agriculture. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the Latin motto. 63. [Bookplate for James Tatlock] In black ink. This bookplate consists of an escutcheon azure (blue), a bend, engrailed, or (gold). Above the bend is a fish, urinant. Above the shield is a curved wreath topped with a fish, urianant. 64. [Bookplate for Laurence A. Waldron by Waller] In red ink. This bookplate displays a classical theme. A neoclassical urn, draped with a laurel garland serves as the back-drop for the escutcheon. The escutcheon, argent (silver), is charged with three bull's heads caboshed, situated two over one. Above the escutcheon is a straight wreath, charged with a heraldic tyger sejant. This component is encircled by the originator's Latin motto. The urn is set upon a pedestal with an oval background, framed by a garland. At the base, between the oval background and laurel garland frame, appears the name and location of the creator. 65. [Bookplate for Winfred Overholser] This bookplate's design is a pictoral scene of a tall ship at sea, with gales of wind blowing at the sails and water. Bookplate text at base. In black ink. 66. [Bookplate for Aylwin Library] In blue ink. An oval containing the text with an outer scalloped edge. 67. [Bookplate] In black ink. This bookplate consists of an escutcheon tilted from a central vertical axis. The escutcheon is gules (red), charged with an ornate vegetative design, vert (green), and a chief, or (gold), are three cross-crosslets fitchy, gules. Above the escutcheon is a collar, wrapped with a pair of stirrups and set upon a backdrop of two intersecting laurel garlands. The garlands form an 'x' pattern wrapping around the escutcheon and the charges above it, partially framing them. The collar is charged with a straight wreath, which in turn, is charged with a courtly-styled woman, clutching two stag antlers. Below the escutcheon is a manner displaying the originators Latin motto. 68. [Bookplate for Thomas Aylwin] In black ink. Escutcheon parted per fess, barry nebuly of three, argent [white] and gules [red]. Three lions, rampant, sable [black], two over one. Above the escutcheon is mantling, on which sits a curved crest wreath and a paw, erased, sable, within a Mural crown proper. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the French motto. 69. [Bookplate for John Eardley Wilmot] In black ink. A marshalling of 12, this bookplate incorporates several notable charges, including two sets of eagle heads, erased, a leg erased, three garbes, a stag salient with hounds in pursuit, a scythe, three bugle-horns, three maiden's busts, three crosses-crosslet, three mullets and a lion rampant. The escutcheon is surrounded by an ornate, foliage border in the Chippendale style. It is crowned with a peer helmet, set upon a vegetative backdrop. The mantling supports two straight wreathes, charged with a demi-eagle, holding an escalop in its beak (dexter) and a stag courant (sinister). Among the many heraldic armorials depicted, this bookplate includes several identifiable familial crests. The originator's descendants, include, from dexter chief to sinister base, the Wilmot family in armorial one, the Eardley family in armorial three and the Marrow family in armorial seven. The Wilmot family armorial displays a sable (black) background parted per fess, or (gold), with three escalops on the fess, situated between three eagle heads, erased, two over one. The Eardley family armorial is argent (silver), with a chevron, azure (blue), charged with three garbes (sheaves of corn) and in canton gules (red) a fret, or. The Marrow family armorial is azure, parted per fess, or, engrailed, situated between three maiden's busts, two over one. 70. [Bookplate for Susie Maria Denton Massey] The image of a large house sitting above a wooded riverbank is possibly that of Dentonia Park Farm, the estate and working farm that Hart Massey built for his wife Susie in 1889. Massey's name is flanked by two lions bearing shields. 71. [Bookplate for Lachlan Gibb] In black ink. This bookplate's design features an escutcheon with or (gold), azure (blue), and sable (black) designs, parted per cross and charged at the fess point with an additional coat of arms. The escutcheon is outlined by an ornate border and situated in the center of a rectangular frame, divided into quadrants. These sections feature a domed building, topped with a cross, a ship, three battle-axes and three beavers, respectively. The originator's Latin motto and name appear along the base of the frame. Above the rectangular design are two straight wreaths charged with a dexter arm vambraced couped, holding aloft a battle-axe and an eagle bearing a tilting spear. 72. [Bookplate for Charles Fyfe by R. P.] Bookplate printed in black ink, with a purple/blue ink, rubber-stamped annotation. This ex-libris depicts a woman reading to a young boy on a park or garden bench. The idyllic landscape behind them features a lake with two swans swimming in it. Further in the distance is a forest with the silhouettes of two figures standing among the trees and large dramatic clounds sweeping by in the background. 73. [Bookplate for United Service Club] This bookplate's design features a royal crown above a thistle, clovers, a rose, and two surrounding branches. 74. [Bookplate for R. H. Nisbet] Black ink on cream paper. A boar passant on a straight wreath, beneath which flies a banner with the family motto and the individual's name. 75. [Bookplate for National Gallery of Canada Library by Alfred H. Howard] Burgundy ink on cream paper. Three young boys respectively engaged in painting, drawing and sculpting are enclosed by a large circle, at the center of which lies an open book. The entire bookplate is surrounded by a multi-layered border. The artist's remarque is in the lower right hand corner of the border. 76. [Bookplate for James Fielding Sweeny] At the top center of the bookplate is a mitre with a crosier on the left side and a banner on the right side. Below that is a crest with argent (silver) background, divided by per pale ; on the sinister side, a mitre and key are crossed, with a coronet, two books, and a dove, holding an olive branch. On the dexter side, two battle axes crossed above two boars, rampant, counterpassant. Beneath that is another crest, divided per pale. The sinister side has an argent background and two battle axes, crossed, above two boars, rampant, counterpassant. On the dexter side, is a lion, rampant. At the base of the bookplate is an alley of columns. 77. [Bookplate for Park Lending Library] Created in black ink on white paper. A simple border with a braided pattern frames the text. 78. [Bookplate for Paramount Sweets and Tea Room by F. A. C.] Created in black ink on white paper. The text is surrounded by a border composed of a two lines, one of which is straight while the other has fluted decorations. Three lines composed of little squares separate the business's name and contact information from the list of library regulations. These regulations are followed by a final decorative line. 79. [Bookplate by F.A.C.] The bookplate depicts a lakeside scene in which a hotel is set among trees at the edge of the water. Prominent hills also give a sense of the surrounding landscape. This picturesque scene is framed by a border of trees. Amongst the leaves at the top of image is a scroll that reads 'Ex-Libris.' At the bottom of the image, an open book displays the words 'Rogers Rock.'. 80. [Bookplate for Curtis Henry Remy] Printed in black ink on white paper with thick-thin horizontal border lines at the top, middle and bottom of the ex libris. There is an image of a cock or rooster between top and middle borders and the name of the owner between the middle and bottom borders.
