[Bookseller's Tickets for Samuel Carsley] 1) In dark blue ink on white paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a field of dark blue ink with a thin white / reserved-out border surrounding white text. 2) In gold metallic ink on red glossy paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a simple gold border surrounding gold text. 2. [Bookplate for David L. G. Dryden] A yellow frame surrounds the central image. The central image is of a young man in medieval armour leading a white horse to the left of the image. The image is in a forest setting with several trees observable. Two notable trees are standing, one on the left, and one on the right side of the man providing a frame for the image. The entire scene is evocative of a Pre-Raphaelite painting. 3. [Bookplate for Baron de Hirsch Institute and Hebrew Benevolent Society] All printed markings in blue ink and all manuscript notes in black ink. Thin lines form a vertical rectangle with three vertically-stacked cells. The top cell contains the name of the library. The middle cell contains the seal of the institute: two concentric rings with the name and dates of the institute surrounding the inner circle, which contains a Star of David surrounding some Hebrew text. The bottom cell contains a space for presentation notes. In the last cell and above the outermost frame are manuscript notes. 4. A coat of arms for the city of Halifax is printed in the upper-portion of the plate in blue ink. Within this coat of arms stands a sailor on the left, with his hand placed on the crest containing a Belted Kingfisher on a grassy mound. Directly above the crest is a masoned Sable containing a sprig of mayflower. To the right is a fisherman holding a codfish by its head. Both figures and the crest are standing upon heraldic ribbon containing Latin phrasing within it. This portion is followed by the title of the library in Germanic lettering and the name of the town in cursive. 6. [Bookplate for Dorothy C. Heney by Clifford H. Brown] Black ink on buff paper. The image depicts a young girl holding hands with a book, and both pushing open the gates of Fairy Land, toward a castle in the background. Pictorial. 7. [Bookplate for Dorothy C. J.] Black ink on tan paper. This bookplate portrays a young nude boy holding a lily stem. 11. [Bookplate for Victoria University] Black ink on tan paper. Victoria University coat of arms and motto at top. Text covers rest of page. 12. [Bookplate for Crease Clinic of Psychological Medicine] Black ink on white paper. British Columbia coat of arms at top. Text below. Other text in blue rubber stamp ink. 13. [Bookplate for J. W. Longley by Francis Adams Sc.] Black ink on white paper. The crest features an arm grasping a dagger. The blade of the dagger has pierced the head of a bearded man that resembles a lion head. The arm is atop a crest-wreath. The wreath sits on a flower with a round center and 5 petals. To strips extend out of the flower across the front and back of a ribbon, connecting to the top of the shield. The ribbon extends straight out with curling ends. The motto is printed on the ribbon in black, capitalized, serif font. Shield is ermine with a black bend. Bend charged with three cheetah heads. The shield features a sinister canton paly. Underneath the shield, the bookplate owner’s name is printed in large, black, sentence case, gothic font. More text is printed below the name in smaller, black, capitalized, serif font. 14. [Bookplate for George Roe Lockwood] Black ink on white paper. The image depicts two figures in a living room or study. The young woman wears an off-the-shoulder dress with a shawl and is leaning toward the older male with a fan in hand. The older male sits with his feet tucked up in the chair and an open book in his lap. 15. [Bookplate for Francis J. Audet] Black ink on white paper. The shield is black at the top with an open book in the center and a fleur-de-lis on either side. The main part of the shield is charged with a lion rampant. Below the lion is a branch with three give-pointed leaves. The motto is printed on a banner below the shield in capitalized, black font. Underneath the motto is cursive black font in various sizes. 16. [Bookplate for Charles Fyfe by R. P.] Bookplate printed in black ink, with a purple/blue ink, rubber-stamped annotation. This ex-libris depicts a woman reading to a young boy on a park or garden bench. The idyllic landscape behind them features a lake with two swans swimming in it. Further in the distance is a forest with the silhouettes of two figures standing among the trees and large dramatic clounds sweeping by in the background. 17. [Bookplate for National Gallery of Canada Library by Alfred H. Howard] Burgundy ink on cream paper. Three young boys respectively engaged in painting, drawing and sculpting are enclosed by a large circle, at the center of which lies an open book. The entire bookplate is surrounded by a multi-layered border. The artist's remarque is in the lower right hand corner of the border. 18. [Bookplate for Montreal Children's Library] Dark brown ink on brown paper. An image of a young boy and girl in a library with many books open and on the floor. The young girl reaches up to pull down a book from the top shelf while the boy sits cross-legged on the floor reading. 19.
