Notes | Established in 1949, the Crease Clinic of Psychological Medicine opened at Riverview Hospital, now the location of the collective organization BC Mental Health & Addiction Services, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority. Located in rural Coquitlam, the area the hospital lands were established became known as Essondale, after Dr. Henry Esson Young, who was a cabinet minister and supporter of building the new hospital. Construction of the hospital--renamed Riverview Hospital in 1966--originally began around 1909. In 1992, the Crease Clinic closed, primarily due to a new plan proposed in 1990, to replace Riverview Hospital with smaller regional facilities. References: 1) "History."
