Notes | Due to style of design and initials, it is possible this bookplate's creator is Thoreau MacDonald. Thoreau MacDonald (1901-1989), son of J.E.H. Macdonald, was a Canadian illustrator, painter, and designer. He worked primarily in black and white, due to colour blindness, and subjects often included nature or vistas of Canada. MacDonald also established the Woodchuck Press in the late 1930s. Some of his illustrations in various publications are available from UBC Library. However, bookplate artist cannot be confirmed.
