[Bookplate for Douglas Battersby] In black ink on yellow paper, the bookplate consists of an ornate decorative border surrounding the text. The text is a Gothic typeface, except for the city. There are significant stains around the edges of the bookplate. 42. [Bookseller's Ticket for R. & C. Chalmers] In black ink on yellow paper, the bookseller's ticket consists of a decorative border surrounding black text. 43. [Bookplate for Joseph-Olivier Archambault] In black ink on yellow paper. A decorative border with integrated flowers and ornamentation in corners surrounds the text. 44. [Bookplate for Joseph Berreth and Michael B. Kunze] In black ink, an image of a knoll, on top of which are two leafless trees and a lamp centered between them. In the background is a cloud that frames the image. 45. [Bookplate] In blue ink on yellow paper. This bookplate displays a mounted trumpeter, suited in armour. Behind his right leg hangs a shield charged with what appears to be an eagle displayed. The equestrian is surrounded by a rectangular frame containing alternating vegetative designs and open books resting on book stands. Above the figure, within the frame appears the work ex-libris and below, in the base of the frame the institution name. 46. [Bookplate for Gerald E. Hart by Edwin Cox & Co.] Multicoloured ink on cream paper. Leaves with three pointed leaves adorn the corner of a brick pattern background. The leaves and brick are a pale green. There is an elaborate image printed on top of the pale green pattern. The bricks form an arch shape in the top centre to surround an elaborate multicoloured, painted arch. The arch is brown, gold, and black with ‘X’ decorations and borders. The arch surrounds a multicolour stained glass window, at the forefront of which sits a monk writing in a book. The stained glass window features a central circular decoration with three red circular borders surrounding three yellow circles, in the center of which are yellow flowers with three petals and green accents. In the outer spaces between the circles are rounded triangular lined insertions. At the very center of the three circles is a three ringed circle. To the bottom left and right of the circle decoration are more teardrop shaped sections with tapered bottoms. They each features yellow flowers with stems. Below the right floral decoration are two more similarly shaped sections with a swirling ribbon in each atop a blue crosshatch background. The arch connects to a Romanesque pillar on either side. The arch connects to an elaborately decorated bench, which has a golden floral motif. A bearded monk sits on the bench in floor-length yellow robes. The monk faces the right, where there is a desk. The desk is decorated on the side with ‘X’ decorations. Atop the desk is an open book that the monk is writing on. Below the desk is a decorative bird with a long, curved neck and floral elements extending from its back. The bird is accented with gold. To the right of the bird, partly reaching up to the top of the desk, are two rolled up pieces of paper. The floor consists of two thin platforms with green accents. A smaller rectangle is below with a gold crosshatch pattern. Text in the style of medieval manuscripts is printed atop. The first letter of each word is more stylized and in red font ; the rest of the text is blue. A thin ledge extends from the bottom of that rectangle. It tapers down to a more narrow line with two small pointed feet at the left and right sides. In that small section is a repeating geometric pattern in gold on a brown background. Below the entire image is small, red, capitalized, sans-serif font. 47. [Bookseller's Ticket for Andrew H. Armour and Company] Printed in black ink on yellow paper, the bookseller's ticket features a wavy three-line border surrounding the name (first line), services offered (second line), street name (third line) and city (fourth line) of the company. 48. [Bookplate for Hervé Grignon] Text centered at the top of the bookplate, printed in black ink, single font, on yellow paper. 49. [Bookplate for Theodore A. Jackson by Franklin Bittner] The bookplate is printed in shiny, raised black ink. The image is a three-masted ship at sea above a compass rose. In the top left of the image is the illustrator’s copyright text, and below the image is text identifying the owner. 50. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] The central image is surrounded by a grey rectangular frame within which is a white background. The image within the rectangle is a sideways fan shaped segway onto a view of Mt. Fuji with a blue sky in the background, several grey outlined yellow and pink shapes possibly representing flowers, trees, and a pastoral setting in the foreground. The large side of the fan is facing towards the left. 51. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] The central image is surrounded by a grey rectangular frame within which is a yellow background. The image is a sideways fan shaped segway onto several pink flowers with a dragonfly hovering over them. The larger side of the fan is facing the left. 52. [Bookplate for Eiichi Hirose by J. Lee] The central image, on a square yellow background, is of a red four-winged butterfly sitting at the base of a yellow flower. The butterfly is located at the left side of the image. 53. [Bookplate by Eiichi Hirose] The picture is of a stone pillar amongst a garden with a yellow frame outline. The pillar has several symbols which represent the same image found on a 5 yen coin. There is a hole in the centre which holds water for a person to drink from using the yellow bamboo cup sitting on the top of the pillar. 54. [Bookplate for A. W. Robertson] This bookplate consists of a pictorial image of men in a rowboat in the foreground with the image of a large sailboat in the background. Between the two primary images is the shape of a whale, the ocean, and three small rowboats. It is designed to replicate the style of stained glass, and is therefore divided into sections which are executed in varying colours such as blue, green, yellow, brown, and purple. Each section is delineated in black ink and is bordered in black ink. The bookplate is on white paper. 55. [Bookplate for Stanley C. Bagg] This bookplate consists of black gothic text surrounded by an elaborate border, all printed on yellow paper. 56. [Bookplate for Alfred B. Wiener by Antioch Bookplate Company] This bookplate is printed in black ink in an art deco style with Broadway font (c. 1928) for the owner's name.
