Notes | Beginning in the early 1800s, the High School of Quebec is now known as Quebec High School. The High School of Quebec, a private boys' school, merged with the Commissioners' High School in 1941 to become Quebec High School. Awarding this prize bookplate is William Stewart Smith, Rector of the High School of Quebec and author of, "Total abstinence considered as one of the greatest promoters of domestic happiness and social and civil order [electronic resource] : in an address delivered in the lecture hall, Anne St., Quebec, at the request of the Knights of Temperance, 5th September, 1854."
