NotesPossibly W.H. Banfield who was born in 1844 in Québec, a machinist and die maker and the owner of a phonograph motor manufacturing company located in Toronto called W.H. Banfield and Sons, Ltd. In 1886, this W.H. Banfield was mentioned in the Toronto Philatelic Journal for stamp collectors. There was also a W.H. Banfield of Ohio who owned the Irondale Tin Mill, but the Bolton Centre to which the bookplate refers is located in Québec. These men could possibly be the same man as the Canadian Banfield was also involved in the tin industry as well and did business in the United States.
