Notes | Eugene Lloyd Caldwell was born in Massachusetts U.S.A. By the beginning of the First World Warm he was living in Canada and became an officer in the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He was a Lieutenant in 1914, made temporary Captain June 26 1915 and, later that year, on October 3 1915, was made temporary Major. The Royal Canadian Dragoons were a cavalry unit and part of the forces sent overseas in World War One. Caldwell also taught at Collège Militaire Royal in St. John's Québec and is listed as a Commanding Officer MiD (Mentioned in Dispatches) with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. During his life, he also wrote two unpublished histories of the Richelieu Valley in Québec and one unpublished novel titled 'Etoffe du Pays.' His wife's named was Winifred and they had at least one child, a son who died November 27, 1941 in Egypt. Caldwell died aged 91 in Nova Scotia. References: 1) Caldwell, E. L. Lt. Col. (n.d.). E.
