Notes | From the University of Florida, this bookplate is used in the Maury A. Bromsen Medina Collection, which is a collection of works by the Chilean author Jose Toribio Medina. Maury Austin Bromsen (d. 1830) was a well known collector, bookseller, bibliographer and historian, known for his enthusiasm for colonial Spanish America materials and history. According to his obituary from the Boston Globe, Bromsen donated his renowned Bolivar Collection to the John Carter Brown Library at Brown University, and also endowed Boston Public Library with a fund for Latin American books and lecture series.
