Description | A central panel with the ownership text is surrounded by mantling that comes out of a vase at the bottom. Flanking the ownership panel there are two figures holding books at each side. Hanging from the mantling on the bottom are a drum and lyre, and surrounding the top are various animals. The top of the bookplate is crowned with a globe. |

This likely belonged to Isadore Korner (Koerner), father of Walter Koerner, a prominent benefactor to the University of British Columbia. Isadore was married to Marie Koerner and the father of ten children. He owned a successful lumber and forest products firms based in Czechoslovakia, later expanding into Poland and Saxony. He died circa 1925. More information can be obtained from the Walter C. Koerner fonds at UBC Special Collections. |
