Flanking the ownership panel there are two figures holding books at each side. Hanging from the mantling on the bottom are a drum and lyre, and surrounding the top are various animals. This likely belonged to Isadore Korner (Koerner), father of Walter Koerner, a prominent benefactor to the University of British Columbia. Isadore was married to Marie Koerner and the father of ten children. He owned a successful lumber and forest products firms based in Czechoslovakia, later expanding into Poland and Saxony.
