Description | In black ink. This bookplate consists of an escutcheon sable (black), a tower with two windows. Above the escutcheon is a straight crest wreath topped with a gryphon, passant. Below the escutcheon is a banner containing the English motto. |

Notes | There are a numerous Christophers in the entry for Tower in Burke's Landed Gentry. They begin in 1657. It appears the first Christopher to reside in Weald Hall did so in 1778, he died in 1810. His son, Christopher, also lived there. Christopher John Hume Tower was also of Weald Hall beginning in 1913, and the estate was bequeathed to his son, Christopher Thomas Tower. References: 1) Burke, Bernard.
