DescriptionBookplate design is circular, with an escutcheon divided per pale. Primary charges are a lion rampant and falcons. Above the shield is an esquire helmet and a straight wreath charged with another falcon. Circular banner surrounding escutcheon contains bookplate owner's names.

NotesThurland Castle is an estate located in Lancaster, a county in northwestern England. According to a 1914 publication, "A History of the County of Lancaster, " Thurland Castle was sold to Edward Brown Lees in 1885. Burke's Landed Gentry notes Edward Brown Lees was educated at Eton and Exeter College at Oxford, married Dorothy Livesey in 1877, and had five children. Edward died 27 August 1896 and Dorothy in 1912.
