DescriptionBlazon is divided per quarter and per fess. Dexter chief and sinister base show a lion rampant on argent (silver) background. Sinister chief and dexter base show a lion rampant on gules (red). Fess shows three garbs over sable (black) background. Above the blazon is a straight wreath, charged with a lion rampant leaning on a garb. The motto is on a scroll below the blazon.

NotesThe Honorable Edward Murphy (1818-1895) was born in Ireland and came to Montreal in 1824 with his parents. A successful businessman, Murphy founded the St. Patrick's Society (1834) and the Montreal City and District Savings Bank (1846). He joined the Senate in 1889 and served for 6 years. He was active in education and the temperance movement.
