DescriptionShield, argent (silver), charged with a chevron, gules (red), and three garb, aulned. Above the crest is a greyhound, rampant ; only top half of dog is visible behind a wreath of vert (green) and a second colour, unclear. Beneath the shield is a banner which ends in two tassels on either side, reading 'I hope to Share.' Box on lower left side for entering book number, unused. Tear at bottom right.

NotesWilliam Renwick Riddell was born in Ontario April 6th, 1852 and earned a BA, BSc, and LLB at Victoria College. He then became a successful lawyer and was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1906 and then in 1925 moved to the appeal division. Riddell was also an active Canadian historian, publishing 1258 articles, reviews, books, and other publications in a variety of fields including legal and social history. He dies in Toronto on Feb 18th, 1945.
