NotesFoster Brown Co. Limited, booksellers and stationers, opened as 'Wm. Foster Brown & Co.' in 1889 when the bookstores of Dawson Brothers Book Business were sold. With a variety of changes to name and location, the Foster Brown Company remained in existence until the late 1930s. These changes in name and location date this bookplate to six-year span of 1928-1933. In 1928, Foster Brown Co. Limited took over the lending library of F. E. Phelan, Limited, stationers, when that store closed. A copy of this ex libris is also available in the Philippe Masson Ex Libris Collection at McGill University.
